OAKLAND PARK CONTEMPORARY ARTIST

Original Acrylic Paintings by Chris Cornell

Oakland Park is one of South Florida's most exciting creative communities. Situated between Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors, the city has developed a unique identity built around culture, entrepreneurship, diversity, and artistic expression.

As an Oakland Park-based contemporary artist, I am proud to create and exhibit work within a community that values creativity and individuality. My paintings explore identity, confidence, nostalgia, memory, and modern culture through original acrylic paintings that combine portraiture, abstraction, bold color, and glitch-inspired visual techniques.

The work I create is influenced by both personal experiences and broader cultural observations. Through layered compositions, vibrant color palettes, and intentional disruption, I create paintings designed to encourage reflection, conversation, and emotional connection.

WHY OAKLAND PARK INFLUENCES MY WORK

Oakland Park is a city in transition. It continues to evolve while maintaining a strong sense of community and authenticity. This balance between change and continuity mirrors many of the themes explored throughout my artwork.

Questions surrounding identity, reinvention, confidence, and belonging frequently appear in my paintings. Living and creating in Oakland Park provides daily reminders of how communities and individuals continue to redefine themselves while remaining connected to their history and experiences.

ARTISTIC STYLE

My work combines several influences:

• Contemporary Portraiture
• Abstract Expression
• Pop Culture References
• Glitch-Inspired Techniques
• Layered Acrylic Painting

These elements work together to create paintings that feel both contemporary and emotionally accessible.

Many of my portraits explore how people present themselves to the world and how those presentations differ from internal realities.

Confidence

Paintings such as Digital Confidence examine the contrast between projected confidence and private vulnerability.

Works like Pop Princess and Screen Siren explore how collective memory shapes our relationship with cultural icons.

Connection

Ultimately, my goal is to create artwork that allows viewers to discover their own stories within the work.

COLLECTING ORIGINAL ARTWORK IN OAKLAND PARK

Collectors are increasingly seeking original artwork that reflects individuality and personal meaning.

Original paintings provide a level of authenticity and presence that mass-produced artwork cannot replicate. Every brushstroke, texture, and composition choice represents a unique creative decision.

For collectors throughout Oakland Park, Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors, and greater Broward County, original artwork becomes part of the environment and often part of the personal story of a home or office.
